TURKISH PM ERDOGAN'S SPEECH (07/06/2013; 02:40; Istanbul)

My dear brothers, my dear residents of Istanbul, my very dear companions and my citizens who are in front of your TV screens, I salute you all with longing and affection.

We thank you all for making us feel this excitement, this steady determination, this enthusiasm at this hour, in this beautiful Istanbulnight. 

This night, i salute not only you but also each greathing soul in all the villages of the Turkish republic, and my beloved brothers,

I salute my mothers, grandmothers, sisters kneeling on their prayer rugs 

I salute my worker brothers, my farmer brothers who earn their bread with their sweat.

I salute our women, our young brothers.

I salute Istanbul's sister cities, Sarajevo, Baku, Beirut, Cairo, Skopje, Damascus, Gaza, Ramallah, Mecca and Medina.

And I certainly salute Istanbul, again and again. I salute Istanbul from the heart with each of its districts, each street. I come with greetings to you from far away. I come with greetings from my bothers very far away. I come with the greetings of my brothers in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.

My dear brothers, i pray that god render our brotherhood ever lasting. i pray that god render our sprit, solidarity, and communion ever lasting. Our friends and administrators there said that "it will all pass because we all believe in you.” 

We have never sided with   blood shedding, breaking hearts, destroying hearts but we have continued to bridge hearts. But we hold our heads high. We haven’t defied.

We have nothing to do with the fight. We have nothing to do with the conflict. We have nothing to do with vandalism and the rampaging.

We know how to build, construct and foster the turkish economy. this is the way that we came into power. BANK LOBBYISTS THINK THAT THEY CAN THREATEN US WITH SPECULATION.

Even if a bank CEO says that….

IF A CEO SUPPORTS THIS VANDALISM WITH THESE THREATS, SHE WILL FIND HERSELF FACE TO FACE WITH US. We have come to this day through economic growth. The people, who said that they became five times richer under our government, have begun to march against us.

Now, the world is talking about turkey and Turkish people. Why have these demonstrations emerge at this particular time? We have reached these days with patience and we have always said that the people who have patience can be victorious.

DEMONSTRATORS SAY THAT I AM THE PRIME MINISTER OF 50%; SHAME ON YOU, FROM YOUR HEAD TO YOUR TOES. We have been saying that we are the servants of 76 million. We brought services to the people from the east to the west without any discrimination. They did not have any services until us. Think about it: who would have believed ten years ago that Hakkari would have an airport?

Who would have believed it if somebody had said there were going to be airports in Sirnak and Igdir? There were 26 airports when we first came into power and now we have reached 50 airports.  Now, the people who stand against us are not against these services but the people who are making them. Akp (justice and development party) is making that, akp government is doing that. So they said: "we are going to do the thing we couldn't achieve through election and we are going to do it in other ways".

We are not the master but the servant.

We do not stigmatize anyone because of their ethnic origins, beliefs, religion or ideology.

We are not the master of 76 million but the servant.  We are turkey all together, we are one, together, sisters and brothers. We read, analyze and evaluate the incidents that take place in turkey my dear sisters and brothers and then we take steps. the success of the Akp government does not stem in any way from tension, conflict and polarization.  But they need to know that we are the generation of "Asim".

WHAT IS THE GENERATION OF "ASIM".  SOME PEOPLE MIGHT NOT LIKE THAT...  WHAT DOES AKIF SAY?

 

I cannot applaud oppression, i cannot love the oppressor        
I cannot insult the past for the pleasure of the future
IF ONE ATTACKS MY ANCESTRY, I WILL STRANGLE HIM,
-You cannot
AT LEAST, I WILL CHASE HIM AWAY
I CANNOT BE THE HOUND OF A FEW DEGENERATES,
I CANNOT EVER WORSHIP INJUSTICE IN THE NAME OF GOD,
I’ve been in love with independence since birth,
I cannot be held by a collar made of golden tulips,
I am docile; this does not mean that i am a mindless sheep
you can cut my throat, but you cannot put a collar around my neck,
when i see a bleeding wound, i suffer
to stop bleeding, i will be kicked, i will be whipped,
I cannot say ‘whatever’, i care,
I will crush them; i will set the righteous afoot,
I am the oppressor’s foe, but i am the oppressed’s friend.

We are respectful to everyone; and with good reason, we want them to be respectful to us as well. We said one thing when we set out: we declared our aim as an advanced democracy, and we’ll achieve this as well. It is the nation that trusted us, and it is the only the nation that can withdraw its support. No one other than the nation can claim that for it, no one can declare that aim other than through elections.

Ten and a half years have passed, and we have regarded people’s trust as sacred. from now on we will continue to protect it.

WE CANNOT TOLEREATE VANDALISM, ANY HARM TO OUR PEOPLE OR TO PUBLIC PROPERTY. Today, these demonstrations in Gezi Parki, which are held for just 15 trees, have lead to the loss of three people. 2 young people lost their lives, and one of our chief inspectors became a martyr. 

On this point, I have something to say: MY BROTHERS, HOW THE DEATH OF THESE YOUNG PEOPLE IS IMPORTANT, THE DEATH OF A POLICEMAN, HIS MARTYRDOM IS OF SUCH IMPORTANCE. WHOSE POLICE IS THIS POLICE? TO WHOM AND TO WHAT DOES HE SERVE? HE SERVES TO MAINTAIN OUR SECURITY IN THIS COUNTRY. WHEN THE TIME COMES, HE STANDS AGAINST TERRORISM; WHEN THE OCCASION COMES, HE STANDS AGAINST THE ANARCHIST; WHEN THE OCCASION COMES, HE STANDS AGAINST VANDALISM.  

IT WILL SURELY NOT SUIT TO SOMEONE’S BOOK. WHAT DO THEY SAY? “TAKE THE POLICE BACK.” WHAT WILL HAPPEN? YOU CANNOT DO AS YOU WISH. THIS IS THE STATE OF TURKISH REPUBLIC. AND THE POLICE JUST DID THEIR DUTY AGAINST THE ATTACKERS, AGAINST ATTACKING ALL, ALL PUBLIC EQUIPMENTS, ALL CARS OF OUR CIVIL CITIZENS. AT TIMES THEY MAY HAVE USED EXCESSIVE FORCE. As I said before, i gave instructions about this. the deputy of prime minister also said this.

MY MINISTER OF INTERIOR AFFAIRS IS DOING WHAT IS TO BE DONE. NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO ATTACK US UPON THESE. My brothers, our chief officer's baby has now been made an orphan in his mother's womb. Many police and thousands of our citizens were injured. Cities were plundered, shops were plundered, and shopkeepers were harmed. They got so wild as to burn the Turkish flag. The people who carry the Turkish flag became putty in their hands.

MY BROTHERS; THOSE WHO CALL THEMSELVES JOURNALISTS, ARTISTS, POLITICIANS, WERE THE UTMOST UNRESPONSIBLE ONES, THEY SHOWED HATRED, DISCRIMINATION, ILLEGALITY PAR EXCELLENCE. THESE DEMONSTRATIONS WHICH HAVE LOST THEIR DEMOCRATIC QUALITY AND HAVE BECOME UNLAWFUL MUST AT ONCE COME TO AN END.

  
OUR CITIZENS, WHO ORIGINALLY HAD INNOCENT FEELINGS BUT WERE EVENTUALLY ABUSED BY TERRORIST GROUPS, SHOULD DISTANCE THEMSELVES FROM THIS DIRTY GAME. MY INNOCENT CITIZENS, YOU SHOULD DISTANCE YOURSELVES FROM THIS DIRTY GAME, SOCIAL ENGINEERING AND UNLAWFUL DEMONSTRATIONS AGAINST DEMOCRACY. WE SHOULD MAKE OUR DEMONSTRATIONS WITHIN THE BORDERS OF LAW AND DEMOCRACY. WE, 76 MILLION PEOPLE, WILL SEE THE OTHER WAYS OF DEMONSTRATION AS ILLEGITIMATE AND WILL FIGHT AGAINST IT.

YOU HAVEN'T GIVEN UP SOLEMNITY, SERIOUSNESS AND RATIONALITY IN THE LAST 10 DAYS.   NOW WE'RE GOING TO LEAVE FOR HOME. YOU DON'T HAVE POTS AND PANS IN YOUR HANDS, DO YOU? AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. YOU WON'T BE LIKE THE ONES WITH PANS AND POTS IN THEIR HANDS ON THE STREETS, BUT A YOUTH WITH COMPUTERS IN THEIR HANDS. WE AS THE GREAT YOUTH OF THE GREAT TURKEYWILL CONTINUE THIS STRUGGLE RESOLUTELY FOR THE GREAT TURKEY.

The youth, my brothers; you are the hope of the oppressed people. You are the model for the youth of the Middle East, the Balkans and Africa. You will take great steps and run for great aims. You will neither be deceived nor deceive.

Young people, i thank you in the name of turkey. All my brothers and sisters in Anatolia and thrace, all my friends on earth, i salute you heartily.
Beloved people of Istanbul,
i want you to know that no one but the god can stop the rise of turkey.

i hereby commemorate with compassion our martyred chief officer and the two young people who were dead and express my condolences to their families.

Rejoice, my Mehmeds, heads up!

Rejoice even if we die, or if we go back home

Don't think that this wheel ever gets stuck

Tomorrow is ours, for sure, it is ours
