BOARD OF TURKEY BAR ASSOCIATION GATHERED FOR EXTRAORDINARY MEETING

Turkey Bar Association Board of Directors, gathered extraordinarily upon the call of president Atty. Metin Feyzioğlu to discuss the escalating social events in the country.

As a result of consultations and assessments of the situation, by those who were present at the meeting it has been unanimously resolved:

1. To file an application to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe for article 52 of the European Convention on Human Rights, concerning, "violence exercised by  governmental district authorities and security forces against the public", and "expression of government aimed at escalating the tension and the violence" to be invoked

2. To file the necessary application also with other relevant international institutions,

3. Based on information reflected to media about The Ministry of Health initiating preliminary inquiry with intention of launching an investigation against healthcare professionals who applied first aid to wounded during the events; To file judicial and administrative application against the initiators of this preliminary inquiry,

4. To file judicial and administrative applications against public officials who neglected their duty by not establishing emergency medical units where social events occurred,

5. As the social events where unlawful practices has been intensively observed still continues; To continue the consultations with the heads of the bars and depending on the outcome, To initiate all necessary actions and applications.
