WE ARE ON THE FIELD WITH THOSE WHO RESIST AGAINST OPRESSION AND VIOLENCE!
AKP government which tried to supress citizens' backlash to Taksim Gezi Park's being made the victim of a financial profit plan hit the wall of the Turkish people's conscience seeking their rights and justice.
AKP government preferred to counter the people's proud response with terrorism. Our people seeking justice were killed, tens were disabled, thousands were injured.
Media has been trapped by the ruling party, a big disinformation campaign was run against the Turkish people's opposition.
However, the people's resistance did not lose power and managed to overcome all barriers set up to stop it.
AKP rule which was shaken by the Turkish people's resistance for rights and justice, tried to reduce the movement into a purely environmental context and make the people's reaction to its authoritarian style and police terror look illegitimate.
The people of Turkey who were seeking freedom were not deceived. Against the insistful resistance of the people who did not give up their rights and freedom, AKP rule started inconceivable and brutal attacks to the people in front of the world.
Gezi Park and Taksim Square, which became the symbol of the people's resistance, were invaded by the government's police with use of chemical gas and liquid. Moreover, in many other cities around the country, and mainly in Kizilay in Ankara, excessive police brutality was conducted in front of the world. Police attacked even a funeral.Children and elderly were treated roughly and suffocated with gas in a manner to crash all human values.
Health centers set up for our people who got injured during
these brutal attacks were ruined, doctors and nurses were
detained, treatment equipments and supplies were destroyed.
Those MPs and international observers who were defending the
people's opposition were gassed and beaten as well.
This merciless police brutality was kicked off by the Prime
Minister himself with instructions given during mass meetings.
However, our people that want freedom and respect continue
resisting the ruling party's fierce aggressiveness with faith,
pride, determination, intelligence and love. The resistance of
freedom and honour, justice and right is getting bigger and
bigger, encompassing whole Turkey, and shaking the AKP rule.
PM Tayyip Erdogan, frustrated by the fact that he could not
manage to provoke civil war within AKP's supporters chose to
impose an unrestrained regime of oppression. Now besides
police water cannons and vehicles, we started to see in our
streets military forces and gendarmerie water cannons as well.
Being the long standing labor and profession organisations of
the Turkish people's fight for justice and right, freedom and
democracy, we believe that the most crucial duty of democracy
today is to stop the AKP rule's agressiveness in forming a
despotic regime.
Therefore, on 17th June 2013 Monday, our members will go and
express to their employees their objection to this
aggressiveness, then will halt duty (except for emergencies)
and march towards central squares of their cities. We ask our
people to contribute to our resistance, have comprehension for
inconveniences that may arise in terms of getting service, and
unite in the squares for an equal, free and democratic Turkey.
