Who owns the Title of Gezi Park?
Taksim Gezi Parki estate with approximately 29550 sqm is registered to Istanbul Municipality as the 2nd parcel in 751st section. Istanbul municipality owns this estate conditionally.
Condition 1: Gezi Park estate is registered to Istanbul Municipality to be used for public purposes such as a square, park, green space etc.
Condition 2: Istanbul Municipality can neither sell gezi parki estate nor can use it for another purpose.
Condition 3: Gezi Park estate will be taken off Istanbul Municipality's ownership if it is used for a purpose other than serving the public.
In short: Gezi Park, even with a referandum, cannot be made military barrack or a shopping center.
